So my skin is kind of oily with very few pimples. I have just a few around my nose and forehead but my skin tends to get really blotch and red too. My skin tone is kind of tan. I use sephora's liquid foundation and e.l.f's powder. It doesn't work well at all. That makeup is really noticable and i want it to look as natural as it can be. Please reccomend products and instruction on how to apply it! Thank you soo soo much! What makeup will help make my skin look flawless?
Mineral Makeup would be good for you.
Bare Minerals...What makeup will help make my skin look flawless?
laura mercier is AWSOME
try the moisturizing foundation
i dab a slight dot on my forehead nose cheeks and chin then rub in all around
then i use the loose mineral powder to cover up any scars
trust me its works!
use a concealer brush and just dip it and pile it up on the scar and brush it with a big fluffy brush after your finished
it may be pricey but it last for 1 and a half year and good quality
You have oily skin so I suggest you use an oil mattifier before. A good one is Murad Oil Mattifier but it costs $40 (it also helps fight acne).
Another good, cheaper version is Mary Kay Oil Mattifier.
Also try using powder or a liquid foundation that is mattifying. Maybe you should try Bare Minerals Matte. You will have to work with it if you have a lot to cover but it always look natural.
Well, in order for the makeup to look flawless on your skin you need to start with a good canvas.
Make sure that you take care of your skin, and most makeup should look O.K. Drink plenty of water, you need to hydrate, that is why you are blotchy.
As far as products, Make Up For Ever makes a really good foundation that has medium to full coverage that you can build. Its oil free so you would be a good candidate for this foundation. Set with loose setting powder. Don't forget your SPF!
bare minerals! its good for any type of skin, bu ti also has been proven to even skin tone (get rid of the red) its very natural looking also...because it is natural!
oh yea...i went through a MAC phase...until i finally realized their cakey makeup is better suited for women over 35
It sounds to me that the best kind for you would be some kind of mineral powder foundation. It blends really well and covers up blotchs/redness great! It gives you a smooth blended finish everytime.
The best way to apply it is with a brush and you just want to start at your nose and work outward in small circles. Its very simple and quick!
Some great kinds are bare escentuals %26amp; sheer cover.
GOOD LUCK :)

Trust me, I'm a makeup expert %26amp; I've bought pretty much everything on the market, plus, that is exactly my skin type!
Here's the reasons makeup looks noticeable:
1. your skin is too dry/ oily for it to properly stick
2. makeup that doesnt match your skin
3. cheap makeup that doesnt last long enough
4. makeup that irritates your skin worse
5. bad application!
i searched for years and finally found the perfect stuff... it's called Double Wear Light by Estee Lauder:
http://www.esteelauder.com/product/mpp.tmpl?CATEGORY_ID=CAT643
It won't break you out, and it's light enough that it looks natural but flawless! They have a regular Double Wear too that is heavier and stays on forever, but it's not quite as natural. Once I wore regular Double Wear wakeboarding and everyone was asking me what i used to stay perfect all day.
Anyways, it isnt cheap, but a bottle lasts forever (I've been using mine almost a year- and i wear it a lot), and if you go to the Estee Lauder counter in any department store they can help you match it to your skin and put it on you so you can see how to apply it perfectly. At Nordstrom they even gave me a tiny sample bottle that lasted a week so I could be sure that I loved it before I bought it.
Another thing to note is that makeup often looks noticeable because your skin's undertones don't match the makeup. Some makeups are pinky or yellowy. I'm neutral/olive (tannish) so neutral makeups are perfect for me.
As for application- it's best to put on your makeup after washing your face and using a light moisturizer or foundation primer.
If your skin is oily- try milk of magnesia. It sounds gross, but just dab a bit on before makeup and it will keep the oil away - its cheaper and works better than anything else! here's a girl on youtube who i learned that trick from:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=npWp_paQCYE
For the most natural look, I put on my foundation with my hands like you would put on lotion:
http://yourbeautyspot.ninemsn.com.au/article.aspx?id=260008
If you don't like that you can use a brush. Brushes are much better than sponges. Sponges soak up half your makeup and you have to use more, plus they hold the bacteria and oil that causes more zits!
As for powder... I try to avoid it, because it looks so powdery and fakey sometimes. My oily face soaks it up more and i end up putting on too much throughout the day to keep up, or if my skin is dry it just looks fake and flaky and gross. To keep from looking too oily, I use oil-blotting sheets like these whenever I need them, and then if it's REALLY necessary, I'll touch up with a tiny bit of powder. http://www.cleanandclear.com/productDetail.do?productid=58%26amp;productpos=1360
I hope this helps. Just telling you what I've done and what works! Best of luck!
