Never have worn Makeup. Need help, where to start?

I never have worn makeup. I have no clue wear to start. LIke the part im confused is the powder and liquid stuff for the face. do you wear them together i dont know. I just need help. I know i should know this stuff but i grew up with just guys and yeah. so help.Never have worn Makeup. Need help, where to start?
The ';liquid stuff'; is foundation, and you only need that if your skin is really bad. Its not very good for your skin anyway, so you could just skip that part. Start with easy makeup for now, like concealer and mascara. You dab concealer onto blemishes and flaws in your skin and smudge it in to give you a smoother finish. Then mascara for your eyelashes :) Maybe experiment with the more complicated makeup when you're familiar with the basics?Never have worn Makeup. Need help, where to start?
start with lips. then move on to eyes. cheeks last.
the liquid stuff is foundation.

you have to buy the correct things first, so how about taking along a friend who wears make up with you to buy everything.

you have to have a sponge for the foundation and and rush for the powder.

you put the foundation on first, preferably after a light layer of moisturizer and rub it in making sure there are no obvious lines and then add the powder to finish it off.

hope it helps

ok first of all you need a foundation (well you don't NEED it, some girls look ok without it) but if you have red spots or uneven skin on your face then foundation is good for evening it out. Try to get one that matches your skintone, if it's too dark you'll get that dreaded line around the bottom of your face, and if it's too light you'll look like a ghost. Foundation comes in different kinds, there's liquid, or mousse, or powdered foundation. Experiment with different kinds, but I've found the liquid kind in the bottle is just as good, and way cheaper. I use Covergirl, but Maybelline makes some good ones too. If you have sensitive skin they come in fragrance free. Put a little foundation in the palm of your hand and spread some on your cheeks, on your nose, on your forehead, basically everywhere and rub it in. What I usually do next is use blush because it sticks to the liquid better and lasts longer. I use a powder blush but again, they come in different kinds, stick, cream, powder whatever. I like the powder. I have even used lipstick when I'm out, just blend it really good. Then you can choose to use powder or not, sometimes I do. It will make your blush and foundation last longer. There's compact powder or loose. I use the compact because it lasts way longer. Then you work on your eyes. I usually put a little eyeshadow on first then my eyeliner on top of that because if you put eyeliner on first then your eyeshadow covers it up (which is sometimes helpful if you make a mistake) eyeliners come in pencil or liquid. I like the liquid kind because it's easier to put on, but it can get smeary if you rub your eyes anytime during the day. Then I put mascara on. Then a little tinted gloss, but if I'm going out for the night I put on lipstick. I have had really bad luck with finding a lipstick that stays on longer than about an hour. I don't want to give $10 to try a lipstick so some of the more expensive kinds probably last longer than what I use. Just buy the cheap stuff to experiment with, until you find the shades and types that you like. Have fun, it's great being a girly girl.

MAKE-UP.
I would suggest that you go to a make-up counter in a department store. I like Clinique, but any would be able to help you. Every woman is unique in what she needs. Some don't even need foundation. The women at the counter can also help you choose colors and lines that work well with your skin type. My mom didn't wear much make-up when I was growing up and it was the '80's so I made a lot of crazy mistakes. Unfortunately there are pictures to show for it! I definitely plan to take my daughter to the make-up counter when the time comes. Professional advice is always best! :-)
Usually there are directions on makeup products, but lipstick that comes in a tube is meant for coloring your lips, eyeshadow is a powder than can be loose or compressed and it goes on your eyelids, and blush is usually pink to burgundy and goes on your cheeks. Mascara comes in a small tube and you put it on your eyelashes and eyeliner can come in a tube with liquid or as a pencil and goes on the edge of your eyelids. I hope this helps.
Hi Ham and Jelly,

I would personally start with mascara on the lashes and mucking about with eyeliner. Black is pretty safe, but you might like brown or midnight blue looks good too. Use cotton/ear buds (the ones on the sticks) to wipe away any smudges - use a little dab of makeup remover on the end if you make a bit of a mess.

With concealer it depends on what kind of look you want really. I use a liquid concealer and use only a tiny bit of powder on my nose and forehead and maybe cheeks so they dont look to shiny. You might decide you like the dewy shiny look wearing liquid only - i go through stages sometimes of only wearing powder when my skin is in good condition because it is light. There is a great powder out now called mineral powders....its like a liquid and powder in one i think. Thats great stuff....

But more important than those things....the most important thing with liquid %26amp; powder make up is this : .....The COLOR.

What ever you do, try before you buy. Try some of the makeup on the back of your hand to see if it is the right color. You cant ever find 100% match, just go with the closest one. But too light and you will look sick and pale, too dark and you will look not right.

The other important thing is to learn how to blend it. Don't just whack it on there with fingers, use a little make up sponge, ask the shop keeper where they are (should be near the makeup). Dab a little water on it first, then blend your concealer on with it. Put the make up on the sponge and go for it, make sure you go down your neck some, so it doesn't look like you are wearing a mask.

Liquid foundation (concealer) is a funny thing too, it might take you a while to find a brand that suits you. Some crack up after a few hours, some just don't gel with your skin type.

I would suggest seeing if you have a local Avon lady (call the company and ask). Ask her to give you some concealer samples to try out then choose one...she can give you lippy samples as well, and the prices are on the lower end too but really good quality I think. Even if you only buy yourself one new make up thing a month, you will have a great kit by the end of the year....

Hope this helps you ham and jelly, good luck. :-)
you should probably start off little.

Don't put so much make up at once, its a big change.

Try starting off with light eyeshadow and lip gloss

And you can also try wearing blush.

Tip: Try going to a mall where people can help you with applying makeup!
no you either choose powder or liquid. dont put both. liquid is nasty so dont even go for that. powder works but i prefer bare minerals or mineral powder a little more expensive but worth it. It looks so much more natural.

First, apply some concealer under your eyes or wherever there are dark areas. Apply your powder lightly all over your face and neck. Your goal is to look natural so don't forget not to go overboard.

Now, add some blush to the apple of your cheeks very slightly. Apply lipgloss or lipstick. I prefer lipgloss, it looks more natural and cuter. That should be your daily makeup.

For special occassions you would want to apply eyeshadow and eyeliner.

Next, curl your eyelashes with an eyelash curler. Apply mascara only on the top eyelashes.
yes

liquid then powder then eyeshawdow then mascrea then curl eyelashes w curler then lip gloss!
i never use foundation it makes spots worse! if thats what u mean by the powder and stuff.. i honestly dont know much but its best to use less make up if you dont know how to put it on :) decide what style you want, like do you want it to look natrual.....ish :D or are you gunna wear loads of black eyeshadow, i would start by trying a bit of lip balm and mascara and maybe experiment with eyeliner and eyeshadow, if u have no makeup ask your friends if you can borrow some have fun and dont worry its only makeup :)
Yea i can understand how you need a little grl advice.well i can help.If your just starting to wear makeup then you probably shouldn't worry about foundation(the powder and liquid stuff lol)UM ....well for your eyes you should wear light eyeshadow like light green, pink, blue,or maby purple. If you want a more natural color go with light brown(not gold)You should wear black mascara. It will help highlight your eyes.to help your eyes stand out go with coco eyeliner.I know that eyeliner may be hard to get used to but eventually it will just be part of your routine. Now for your lips settle for a light pink lip gloss.Don't use lipstick because that's for old Lady's.lolxd

Note:I would go for more natural colors because if your just starting to wear makeup then the natural colors will help bring out your natural butty.People wont notice that your wearing make up and the best part is that you'll look Beautiful.

I hope this helps

GoOd LuCk
Well...as far as the face thing, I don't think you're supposed to wear them together, although personally I always use liquid, never powder.

Personally, I think I started out with lip gloss, and then started wearing eyeshadow, and then I started using liquid foundation and concealer and stuff. Now I just use eyeliner and mascara with a bit of concealer, though.
go to everydayminerals.com

their makeup is cheaper than barminerals and is actually good for your skin plus they have looks of things to choose from. trust me, if you've never worn makeup, you do not want to start out using something full of chemicals that will clog your pores and ruin your skin. plz take my advice!
i just wear black eyeliner and black masscara and then sumtimes eyeshadow with lipgloss simple but it makes ur eyes stand out all pretty and what not.
